Twice Born
A statue of Zeus holding Dionysus
Zeus (married to Hera) went to the mortal world in his human form claiming he was a god to a mortal woman named Semele After impregnating her Hera was not happy. She went to Semele and said that Zeus could grant her one wish. Semele wished to see Zeus in his real form. Zeus showed himself to Semele and she was burnt to a crisp by his glory. He took Dionysus from her and stitched him to his thigh until Dionysus was ready to be born. Therefor, although he has one mortal parent, being born from Zeus alone he was given immortality.
Hera was still jealous of Dionysus, so she sent to Titans to kill him. They ripped him to pieces, but Rhea brought him back to life. He was associated with many everyday key concepts such as rebirth after death. This concept because of his encounter with the titans. Another one of these concepts was under the influence of wine, he processed greater power.
